Letter #18

Hi family. How ya doin?? I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for the winter clothes, stamps and boots.. They are PERFECT MOM!! Totally an answer to my PRAYERS.. I was just thinkin I don't have any money to buy any winter boots and my toes are freezing when I am out tracting in the country. IT WAS PERFECT. Thank you!!! They are all so cute and fit perfectly. Thanks for the letters too. They totally made my day. I got them this morning before we came here to the Library to email. It was like CHRISTMAS!!
My companion is Sister Crockett and she is 21 years old. She is very shy. She is a natural person. Very much into herbs and has never been to the doctor in her whole life. Her favorite food is Salad! Just like me. We eat lotsa salads together. She doesn't have a social security number and has never recieved her drivers license.
I have been taking LOADS of pics so I will send you my sim card as soon as it's filled up. (it holds 900 pics) I have taken like 500. Hopefully I'll get it to you by christmas. haha.. jk I'll get it to all ya'll sooner. Dad thats funny that you talk about chewing tobacca. Ronnie is a tobacca CHEWER and thats the one thing he has to quite before he can be baptized. THANK you. man the spirit totally prompted you to say that to me. Whoa it works in mysteries ways huh.
Well yesterday in sacrament meeting my companio and I spoke on missionary work. I prayed about it and thought I would suggest ways we could strengthen one another as a branch and I also talked a lot about member missionary work. Get this family.. I SPOKE FOR 20 MINUTES!! Gosh I know weird huh. I meant to speak for 10.. but my mouth just kept goin and I guess I had a lot to say. haha.. YA you can shut your mouths now.. he he jk.... It was fun.. We go into PEC every sunday morning and its actually pretty fun. It's fun to go in there and laugh with a bunch of old men. They are a hoot and a hollar. I am really starting to get attatched to this area and especially the people. I mean we walk down this old country street (main street).. and I feel like Im gettin to know everyone here. People are always stoppin us and talkin. I have made a lot of friends here and I don't think I could take it if they moved me. I am really close with Trina King. I recent convert. She is like my bff. My heart belongs to KENTUCKY... Oh and PS.. We live in the drug dealing town of Kentucky. This county (Mccreary county).. is I guess one of the biggest towns known for drugs and boos. Everyone
here is drug dealers. It is kinda scarey at night. BUT we aren't aloud to tract
in dark.
SO GHESS WHA.. Ronnie commited hiimself to be baptized on January 21st 2010. Yep we just showed up and he was like Sister Furniss I wanna be baptized on this date. I'm like okay why??? He says it's his birthday and he will have overcome his fear of people by then.. SOOOO we have a baptizim COMMITMENT!! WOOT WOOT!!! He loves the clothes dad sent him. I dunno if he like tried them on yet.. But he was pretty grateful for them. He has a lot of tatoos and he is embarrassed to go
to church.. So he was glad he got the white shirt.... He hasn't been to church yet... His absolute worst fear is going to church and haveing people come up and talk to him and he is gonna have to talk back...(remember he's got anxiety)... He doesn't let anyone come into his house besides Trina and us either. We are his ONLY friends he has let in his house since like 1999. He has such a strong testimony. ALL YA"LL Will have to meet this guy when you come to Kentucky. okAy DoKAY?? I have to stay here and watch him be baptized in January. I am prayin I"ll be able to stay in this area longer. I just have ta! (another lady I have learned to LOVE SO MUCH)... is another investigator we're teaching.. I am very afraid for her and very much concerned for her. We tried to commit her to be baptized on November 7th. She told us she wasn't ready and she has an emotional breakdown. She is the one with the pycho boyfriend. He hurts her emotionally and possibly physically. Everytime we are there teaching her.. her boyfriend knows were there.. and he calls every 5 minutes.. and it interrupst the lesson. It's NO BEUNO. I really do fear for her. WIth her boyfriend they have 1 son. They don't live together.. but they've been together for like 9 years... (This is like one of those scarey LIfetime movies ya see on TV)..... I decided that I needed to bring this up to our ward mission leader and PEC.. They continued to tell us that her boyfriend is the local drug dealer in the county and that he is very slick. They told us that me and my companion were not allowed to go over to her boyfriends house anymore without a priesthood holder.. Good thing they don't live together....This lady that were teaching is AMAZING>>> She always wants to cook us dinner and has such a great testimony..... I pray for her everyday and call her a lot to make sure she is
okay. She got a priesthood blessing yesterday. She needs the comfort and confidence to leave her boyfriend. She just has to break away. MAN This week I've noticed how attatched I get to people and their problems.. It's like their problems are my problems and I just get so emotionally involved and yesterdee I had like a burnt out. I just got so overwhelmed and tired. It was so weird!! All I could tihnk about was all the people I'm teaching and all their problems and I tried to think of ways to help. It's the worst when people come to you with their trials and you have no idea how to help them. I'ts the craziest feeling. I don't think I"ll be able to leave my mission! I just love it so much and the people.. it's the greatest feelin in the whole wide world....I love you all so much. I am soo blessed. I didn't know how good I had it until I came to serve in Mcceary Country. I am prolly the luckiest gal in the world. I
hope all is well with everyone.. Thanks for all the pictures and letters!! They totally make my day and I show all my friends here in kentuckee.
Talk to ya on the PHONE IN 8 WEEKS!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

Hope ya all have a great week.. GOd be with u till we meet again.

LUV
SISTER FURNISS
